What is DIN?
Ministry of Corporate Affairs issues a Director Identification Number (DIN), which is a unique identification number required for any individual who wants to become a director of a company in India. Without DIN, appointment as director is not permitted.

Who Can Apply for DIN?
DIN can be applied for by:
- A person intending to become a director in a company
- A person proposed to be appointed as additional director
- A designated partner in LLP
Documents Required for DIN Application
Before filing DIN application, keep these documents ready:

Step-by-Step DIN Application Process
Step 1: Obtain Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)
The applicant must first obtain DSC because DIN application is filed electronically.
Step 2: Prepare DIR-3 Form
DIN application is filed through DIR-3 Form on MCA portal.
Step 3: Fill Applicant Details

Step 7: DIN Approval
After successful submission and verification by Ministry of Corporate Affairs, DIN is usually approved within a few hours or up to 1 working day, subject to correctness of documents.
